March 2019


Welcome postdoc Patrick Moore!


Patrick joins us from UNC Chapel Hill, and completed his PhD at University College Dublin. He brings with him expertise in mucin glycobiology - a great asset to the team!

Hunter Lab members participated in the 38th Annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation IDS Tower Climb! The team raised $3,180 for CF research.

Sarah Lucas travels to ISME17 in Leipzig, Germany


Sarah traveled to ISME17 to present her research on anaerobic mucin degrading communities in chronic sinusitis.

Leslie Kent receives ASM Undergraduate Research Fellowship!


Leslie will travel with the Hunter Lab to present her research at ASM Microbe 2019 in San Francisco, CA! Congratulations Leslie!

Welcome to our new postdoc Ben Bonis!


Ben completed his Ph.D. in the lab of Jeff Gralnick at UMN. He brings with him expertise in studying redox biochemistry in complex microbial systems. He will be a great addition in applying this knowledge to studying microbial communities in the cystic fibrosis lung.

  • Ryan Hunter, Jeff Flynn, and Kelsey Binder travel to the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC) held in Indianapolis, IN.
    • Kelsey was named a finalist for the Junior Investigators Best Abstract in Basic Science Award!

  • Sarah Lucas receives a Ruth L. Kirschstein F31 Pre-doctoral Fellowship from the NIDCR.

  • Ryan, Jenn, Sarah and Katie go to ASM Microbe 2017. Jenn presents a rapid-fire talk at the Host-Microbe Track Hub: "Resisting Antibiotic Resistance" session.
